What Should I Bring to the Party

Summer Party Season is here and invitations are filling up the calendar on a daily basis. Whether it's a neighborhood cookout, a family reunion or just a summer party, a Southern Hostess always arrives with a dish in hand. This week, we’re sharing a few of our favorite summer salads.

With all of the fresh fruit and vegetables this time of year, a trip to your local farmers market or vegetable stand and you can have the ingredients for a great summer meal.

Whether you use cherry tomatoes or cut up heirloom tomatoes off your vine and mix them with homegrown cucumbers, this Tomato Cucumber Salad and Cucumber Caprese Salad  (above) are southern staples.

If you want to add a little starch to your salads, try this Grilled Vegetable Pasta Salad  or this Cheddar Bacon Ranch Potato Salad.

Lastly, how about adding a little chicken to your salad, add a roll and make it a meal.  The BBQ Ranch Pasta Salad below comes with corn chips and the Buffalo Chicken Taco Salad calls for any brand of tortilla chips.

Which summer salad are you going to try?

SOUTHERN HOSTESS TIP: Be sure to take your salad in a disposable dish so that your host doesn’t have to worry about returning it.

SOUTHERN HOSTESS GIFT: Even though you are taking a dish to the party, consider taking a hostess gift as well. It doesn’t need to be something expensive. Why not a set of blank recipe cards. Be sure to use the one to share you summer salad with the host.
