Welcome to the first Mom's Menu Monday Blog. What better way to start off this Monday's blog, than with my favorite of mom's recipes - Plain Poundcake. In our house, this was a staple and was one of the first things that I learned to bake.
Growing up, my father and I used to fight over the last slice and as I got older one of my best friends joined that fight as well. I can remember going to the beach every summer and the first thing we made for our trip was the pound cake. We would eat it every morning for breakfast and if mom wasn't looking, we would cut what we called a "Fred hunk" named after my father. Believe me when I tell you that his hunk was not a normal slice but closer to the size of two slices.
Try it and let me know what you think. Also, don't forget to check back Wednesday.
