The kids have started school...now, it's time for a little mom time... Don't have kids, don't worry. It's still a great way to spend time with a few of your friends! Here's how I planned mine:
The night before, I ran my dishwasher and emptied it prior to the party. That way, it's easy to immediately rinse off the dishes and put them straight into the dishwasher for quick clean up. I used coordinating paper plates and napkins, along with lobster disposable coasters. I did use real champagne glasses, silverware and serving dishes. Those can easily fit in the dishwasher.
My menu consisted of: bagels with cream cheese and peanut butter, cut up fresh fruit and of course mimosas. I served mini bagels and two different kinds of cream cheese. For the mimosas, I used pineapple chunks, raspberries, blue berries and strawberries. I purchased all of my fruit that wasn't small enough in size, already cut up in the produce section. For the fresh fruit I served, I purchased a container of mixed fruit and then added to it with my favorites.
I served champagne for my friends that wanted it and also made sure to have a bottle of sparkling cider for those that didn't want the real stuff. Because it was early enough in the morning to entertain outside, I used my ice bucket to keep each of the bottles cold enough.
Finally, I made sure everything was out and ready by the time my friends got there. That gave us more time to visit. Even though, kids are back in school, chances are your friends have things they need to do during the hours their children are in school.
I hope these tips have helped and until next time, happy entertaining!
