Have you heard of the saying, grand things come in small packages? Not everyone has the luxury of having elaborate spaces to entertain friends and family during a party. Just because your cozy 500 sq. ft. apartment doesn't have a grand foyer to greet your company doesn't mean that you can't throw an extravagant party in your home.
Entertaining in a small space can seem overwhelming if not strategically planned for comfort for everyone. Check out these few tips in creating a great party with limited spacing.
1. KEEP IT CLEAN
This may be a no-brainer, but when working with small places it is imperative to keep the space tidy. For the primary areas where your guests will congregate, keep the decor simple and clutter to a minimum. Once guests begin to arrive the space will start to shrink. Make sure to put away your personals that may occasionally chill on the couch and floor.
2. COAT/BAG CHECK
To eliminate having coats and jackets everywhere, designate one of the bedrooms for your guests to lay their belongings.
3. STAY ORGANIZED
Use all your counter space for food, plates, cutlery and any other party favors. If everything has a place, it appears more organized. To consolidate even more, place drinks into a dispensary and place smaller foods on trays for easier access. You can also label dishes with our blank menu tents. Use food stands to optimize the amount of space on counter space.
The decor is also an important part in setting the scene for your party. Since there isn't a lot of space to work with, you must rely on the walls to create the setting. Think with simplicity in mind. Small centerpieces with a singular flower will help to create clean lines without clutter.
Time to break out those candles that you hauled from Bath and Body Works, dim the lights and create your playlist. Set the mood for your party with dim lighting and candlelight. Creating an atmosphere for your event will add to the intimate setting for your guest to enjoy.
