With Labor Day this weekend and football season here, does your front door seem to be revolving with guests coming to visit? I love having company but it always seems like we are running from the time they get here until the time they leave. Especially if there is an early game or event to go to.
Here is a few hints to a serving a quick brunch on the run.
1. Make it Simple
If you are headed out the door, make sure everything is quick and easy. I served muffins and donuts, along with leaded and unleaded mimosas. With everyone on the run, and not eating at the same time, it makes things really easy.
With company coming, delegate everything you can for the event. I purchased my muffins from Breadsmith, a bread company and Dunkin Donuts for the donuts. All I had to do was put them out the morning of the brunch.
3. Make it Cute
Just because you are setting it up on the run doesn't mean that it can't be cute and themed. I had brand new plates from Pier 1 that I wanted to use, so I paired them with my lemon lucite tray, ice bucket and coasters (all available in the shop). I also used clear champagne glasses for the mimosas.
4. Easy Cleanup
If you are headed out the door with your guests, make sure everything is easy to clean up. I put each of the muffins and donuts in individual ziploc bags so that they didn't get stale but were easy for people to pick up later for a snack. I kept my champagne cold in the ice bucket, so I just transferred it to the refrigerator before we left. The lucite tray and ice bucket just need to be cleaned with a wet rag. Everything else went into the dishwasher or trash.
