The whole point behind throwing a bridal shower is to shower the bride-to-be with gifts before her upcoming wedding. It's a great way of showing her what she means to you. That is why the bridal shower menu is so important. After all, you don't want the food to ruin such an important day. Whether you decide to throw a brunch, luncheon, or even a dinner you need to implement a meticulous plan that will leave lasting memories in everyone's mind.
There are many things to consider when planning out a menu. You will need to decide if you want to do a buffet where everyone can line up and get the food themselves, or you can simply do a sit down style brunch where everyone can take their place around the guest of honor. You may even want to be a bit fancier and do a tea party.
Another thing you need to consider is how much money you are willing to spend. Take into account that you have to pay for food, decorations and other party supplies that will go into planning the perfect affair.
Before planning the foods to serve, don't forget to take into consideration the bride's preferences and any food allergies among the guests. Once you have all that information, you can begin planning your menu.
Keep in mind that there are a few staples on every southern brunch menu. Those would include tiny ham biscuits, cheese straws, deviled eggs, tea sandwiches and some sort of cake. If you are planning a true brunch, you may also want to include some type of egg item for example maybe mini egg quiches. You might also want to include mini waffles with fried chicken or small dishes of shrimp and grits. Chicken and tuna salad on small mini sandwiches also work well. Finally, think about a vegetable tray with dip and or a fruit tray. Especially if you have people that are vegetarian or watching their weight.
I am planning a brunch this summer and we are having a biscuit bar. Biscuits with jellies and jams, sausage, bacon and fried chicken. Of course, there will also be homemade gravy as well. As sides, we are having scrambled eggs, fruit and breakfast potatoes.
You should also include a cake or dessert of some sort as well. There are many cake shops that will create a cute cake to reflect the bride. If you don't want to go with a big cake, think about doing a cupcake tree.
Don't forget the drinks as well. Mimosa bars are very popular in the south and depending on your budget, mini bottles of champagne make great favors. Also try to include some type of juice, coffee and tea for those that don't want to drink alcohol or are under age.
