It seems like just yesterday school was out, summer was starting and it was time to plan your vacation. It's hard to believe that schools will be starting sometime within the next month. Are you ready for the new school year to start? Here are 5 things to think about.
1. End of Summer Reading
Although I love to read now, my mom used to have to fight me to finish my summer reading books when there were better things to do. Have your children finished their summer reading yet? If not, look at what they have left and set up a realistic schedule to finish. Make sure to leave time for that last minute fun.
2. Shopping for School Clothes
Shopping for new school clothes can be a lot of fun. With children always growing, chances are that some of their school clothes no longer fit and those that do fit may need to be replenished. This weekend - August 4th - August 6th is tax free weekend in South Carolina and a great time to go shopping.
3. Shopping for School Supplies
I always loved shopping for school supplies. The purchase of a new notebook - spiral or 3 ring, fun colored markers, even a new book bag are must haves for students headed to school. These days, the school systems try to make it really easy for parents by providing them with a list. Check out this website that is divided by state and then school to find out what your child needs to bring to class.
4. Doctor Appointments
If you have a child that is playing sports, they will be required to have a physical before playing. For all other students, they will need a well visit if they haven't had one. Be sure to make your appointments early to avoid that last minute rush and know any special requirements from those requiring a sports physical.
5. Update your Calendar
Check the school website or Facebook page and update your calendar. Make sure you mark all work days, early dismal days, holidays and vacations. Also check the calendar for the sports or event schedules your children may be participating in.
Finally, schedule a little free time with your family. Think about having a family cookout or movie night before everyone's schedules get hectic.
As promised, here is a little teaser of the new products for our photoshoot on Saturday. I am so excited.
