It's the end of Summertime...almost school time...and this week, bridal shower time! In this week's Summertime Fun blog, I thought I would show you some of my cute, new Couples Shower designs. Although, original tradition is for the wedding shower to be for the bride, modern traditions are leading towards more couples showers and fun parties. With summer winding down, you still have time to plan that fun end of summer shower for your favorite bridal couple. True to my designs, there is a rustic, nautical/beach, vineyard and classic design and they listed in no particular order…BUT…as always, I’d love to hear your comments on which ones are your favorites.
Couples showers these days are closer to a fun party than a bridal shower. Both male and female relatives, your entire bridal party and good friends are invited. Although the party still revolves around gifts, they are purchased and given with both the bride and groom in mind, instead of just the bride.
Although party games always seem to be present at bridal showers, instead of bridal bingo and making a wedding dress out of toilet paper, couple shower games may lend themselves more towards cornhole, partner games like charades or he said, she said wedding trivia.
This rustic looking invitation is perfect for that backyard party. String lights or lanterns in your backyard...start up the grill for burgers, hotdogs and chicken...add a metal bucket for beer and wine and some vegetables, chips and deserts and you have yourself a party. Don't forget to include a table in the corner somewhere to hold the gifts.
If your couple loves wine, why not check out a local winery in the area and have your party there. Choosing a wine tasting as your destination, not only helps with decoration ideas but also provides you with a theme for gifts for the couple. Be sure to note on the invitation the couples wine preferences.
Couples showers are a great way for your guests and wedding parties to meet and become acquainted before the wedding and they don't have to be costly either. A wine tasting party, similar to a cocktail party is perfect for walking around and meeting different people.
For couples showers that need a more traditional look and feel, think about a classic dinner or cocktail party. It still gives you that time-honored feeling with a little be of a modern twist.
Depending on the place, decorations and food, your classic dinner can be a fun casual evening or a fancy cocktail party. Just remember that if you are planning a dressy event, to note that on the invitation. The last thing you want is for someone to show up in khakis and everyone else be in a suit. This time of year, also make sure to take weather into account when planning your party. An outdoor venue lends itself more to shorts or khakis and a golf shirt instead of a suit and tie. Also have a backup plan for any outdoor event in case of that late afternoon shower or thunderstorm.
Now that I've provided you with lots of fun ideas for that last minute couples shower, remember one important thing. HAVE FUN! No matter what your theme is, where your party is or who you invite, you want the bride and groom to remember your party as one of the great moments of their wedding for years to come.
If you are planning a shower in the near future and want to talk shower invitations, let me know. My middle name is customization and we can definitely come up with that perfect design for you.
