After the Show...
Well, for those of you that were curious, the show is over and I MET MY GOAL!
My friend Julie came in from Nashville for the weekend to hang out and keep me company during the show. I picked her up at the airport on Friday afternoon at 3:40 and we headed to the Neighborhood Theatre in NoDa to set up for the show. The show was to start at 6pm and go to 11pm for the first night and start again Saturday morning at 10a. By 5:30p, we were up and running and waiting for the unknown.
By 11p on Friday, I was tired and depressed and hungry. I had only sold one set of cards for $10. Things were not looking good. But I got a lot of nice support from my friend Julie and some of the local vendors around me that told me Saturday was a different day and would probably be a different set of clientele.
Saturday morning, we were up early and back uptown to set up for Day 2. By 10a, the crowd was starting to arrive and it didn't take long for me to realize that it was indeed a different crowd than the night before. Friday night's crowd was one of socializing with some buying. Saturday seemed to be more of the serious gift buyers.
During my time at the show, I met a lot of new people who would stop by and ask questions. I learned that my designs tended to draw the graphic and interior designers. I also met some very nice people who provided me with lots of information for future shows. Interestingly enough, the three women I talked with the most each sold unique jewelry. Here are their websites if you want to check them out: Cloverleaf Creations, inSpiraled and Designs Boutique.
